Soren Kiekegaard was a Danish philosopher of the early 1800s that laid the groundwork for existentialism. He sought to know God solely on a personal level, without the inclusion (or interference) of liturgy and doctrine. Fun guy. I've read a bit about him but not actually gotten into any of his writings. But my favorite title has got to be the short little book, "Purity of Heart Is to Will One Thing."
