I have no idea what percentage of the general population suffers from a mental or emotional disorder, so I'm curious whether the Rinkworks community reflects the general population or not. > > I was originally going to ask how many people here fall into that category, or have in the past, but the more I think about it, it seems like it's almost the *norm* at Rinkworks. Really, is it that prevalent? Well, I've never been diagnosed with anything, but when I was young, a doctor told my parents that I was hyperactive, and reccomended cutting certain food additives out of my diet. Now, back then the idea of medicating a condition like that would have been unthinkable, and most doctors didn't believe it was a real medical condition, but looking back on my behaviour, I'm halfway convinced that I was suffering from ADHD, except that it seems to have mostly gone, now. Though I still have a shorter than average attention span.
Now, the point of this post was to say that many of my RL friends suffer from depression, borderline autism, ADD, dyslexia, bi-polar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and even more unusual things like cri du chat syndrome. Some have clinical diagnoses, but not all. And then there are probably those that have subtle undiagnosed problems that I can't identify.
Now, it's possible that I'm a magnet for people with problems like that, but I think it's more likely that these issues are more commom than people tend to think.
