Now I've seen cruise ships before, but this dude was 1020 feet long, over a hundred feet wide and deck 15 was in the stratosphere. I hate to think how far down the keel was. Her name is Voyager of the Seas. You can bet your boots she doesn't sail up very many creeks. They say she won't even fit in the Panama Canal.

According to The Encyclopedia of Ships, 2001, reprinted 2002, on page 218, the draught of Voyager of the Seas is ... Well, it's not in the book. That's weird.

But the ship has 84 miles of pipeworks, and 1864 miles of electrical cabling. That thing has diesel generators, 101,340 HP, powering three pod-mounted electrical engines.

Built by Kvaerner, Helsinki. It took 10000 people 57 weeks to finish her - Wich, comes to think of it, isn't all that much. Crew complement of 1180.

That's 20 below the student population of my old High School... But then, I doubt my high school was that big. 1020 by 127? I'm not sure my current school is that big.

Bottom line? I, dear, am a nerd. And Howard is a lucky guy. The biggest ship I ever got on was a ferry, I think... Or one of those river tour boats.

But I'm getting my chance around May 2004 :) :)
