The meaning of your life is whatever *you* feel it is. I think Brunnen was saying that there's no absolute purpose for everyone to strive for. If you want to swim in a lake, that can be your purpose. If you want to swim in a pool, that, too.
As a side note, in the above example your purpose would be to fulfill your purpose, which is also interesting to think about.
