Forum and RinkChat: A Shifting of the Community posted by Sam on Monday, April 14, 2003, at 13:29:30:
Personally, I don't use RinkChat much. However, I have been in there a few times. I have to say that even though it may not be one of the most visited features of the site, it is definitely one of the best and most unique. Simply the fact that people use coorect grammar puts it in a category all its own.
The forum I enjoy. I haven't been posting too much lately and I may not be a very prominent rinkie, but I think many of you know who I am in one way or another. That, also, is an improvement over most other forums out there. RinkWorks has been my first experience with message forums, but I have also posted on others. None of them even come colse to what is here. Almost every one has a post with the title "Are there any males from 17-18 here?" or something like that. Then they turn into a huge flame war that nobody bothers to censor. Not that the forum is in danger of being deleted, but people were saying it isn't as good as it used to be.
Overall, RinkWorks rules, and even if some features are declining in popularity, they are still just as good as always. If people use AIM, let them. They want to use it, and you can't change that. If there aren't as many people in RinkChat, then let there not be as many people. At least there are still some there. Sam, work on adding new features to the site, not worrying yourself about the future of old ones.
