The point in telling your wife you love her is that (A) It makes her feel good, and (B) it's concieveable she does *not* know you love her, or at least at that very moment she may not know you're thinking about her. > > God, being omniscient, DOES know you love him and DOES know you're thinking about him. To me, pretty much all focused conversation with an omniscient being. has to be a waste of time, because he already knows everything you're thinking. It's like someone constantly saying everything twice.
Something struck me as odd about this comment, and I just figured out what it was. You seem to presuppose here that "love" can be something that requires no activity whatsoever -- that someone could love God and never say or do or think ANYTHING about Him, but God would know that this person still loves Him and that would be OK. I don't agree with this assessment. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that the most basic element of love (which would be at least thinking about someone every now and then) qualifies quite nicely as a form of prayer and adoration, as far as God is concerned. You don't have to reiterate those thoughts out loud, but if you don't have them at all, do you really love God?
