These thoughts echo my own. The gulf war occured when I was only 11 years old. I did not know anything about life at that point other than I knew war was a bad thing. But I wasn't scared. The war did not directly affect me in any way. I did not know anyone who was involved it in, and as far as I knew, my parents didn't really know many people who were involved in it.
However, this time it's very different. I have friends in the military, various parts of it, I have friends with friends in the military, I even have a cousin in the air force. (Though right now he is state-side, he was over in the middle east starting sometime around september 11 off and on and has been home for a couple of months now.) So this war is impacting my life in a very different way.
I won't go into why I think we should be fighting this war or why we should not, those debates can go on forever. But I have friends in this one, and as much as I don't fear a lot of things, I worry about them. And I worry about my friend's friends over there.
I pray for a quick resolution to the conflic and for protection of our troops. I also try to remember the people or Iraq in my prayers, I'd sure want someone praying for me if the fighting were here in my country.
