I should probably add that I *do* think people today probably have an improved ability to grasp *change*, compared to pre-Industrial Revolution people. Technology changed more and faster from the 19th century to today than probably in the rest of history put together. However, I still don't think this means a person with a good mind from the 1600s or 1700s wouldn't be able to understand today's technology just as easily as somebody born to it.
