Trouble is, I'm not sure the average computer
user would be able to explain one to Ben
Franklin's satisfaction. A curious mind such
as his would probably want to know more than
just how to operate it; he'd want to know how
and why it works.

I think the majority of us here are
knowledgable enough computer users that
we could explain the basic operation of the
device to Franklin. (If we weren't, we would be
saying "huh?" when reading Computer
Stupidities instead of laughing.) But I for one
couldn't tell him anything about the internal
workings of a modern PC. All I know is that
there's all these tiny little pieces of metal and
plastic and wires inside that make it do what it
does, but I don't know how or why.
