As an artist (extremely loose use of the term), i pretty much gave up on getting helpful critique of my work while in college. Too much critical advice over a new song ends up being, "That's nice," or better yet, no comment at all. I know that my work isn't great, but i'd like to think it could get better with some helpful advice. And if something sucks, it's hard to find a real friend who will say, "That sucks." Almost discouraging to the point that one would give up on creating at all.
But it's therapeutic, so occasionally i continue to write stuff. Haven't had the problem of making any gourmet stuff that looked to me like mac & cheese--at this point, mac & cheese is as good as it gets.
Mi "Of course, the fact that my personal favorite lyric is 'Love may even be a pearl that dropped beside a farm, grew fond of a hog, and refused to be ignored' should say something about what i do (though i'm not quite sure what)" ke
