The thing that I remember most vividly about Mr. Rogers - a staple of my childhood, as well - is his voice. I can still remember exactly the way he talked. I can't remember anything offhand that could be called a direct quote, but I can imagine him saying all kinds of things, and I know just how he'd say them.

That and I remember that he used to eat bananas with cheese. I always ate my bananas with cheese when I was a kid, because that's what Mr. Rogers did. :-}

I think it's heartening to see that no one here has tried to defile the memory of Fred Rogers by dragging up any of those tired old internet rumours about his being a child molester or a sniper or what-have-you. He was a wonderful man, and it reflects well on us as a group that we can recognise that.
