We managed to get hold of the later version, and trained a monkey to work the bellows.

The josticks that came with the system are so old that you have to hammer the button with your thumb in order to get a clean contact - after ten minutes your forearm really starts to feel the strain. Playing Galaxians is a thumb workout of the first order.

Of course, we were getting tactile responses from our games way before they started putting Rumble Packs in joypads.

I can remember my old "arcade" style joystick that I bought which had to be attached to a table, it was so bulky - and every time you touched a control it made an audible "click" noise before springing back to the central position. We once even tried to simulate "Force feedback" conditions in the game "Top Gun" by having my brother kick the chair I was in every time I got hit by a missile.
