I'm talking online games that you don't have to download.
There's an online RPG that I am absolutely and mind-numbingly addicted to at the moment. It's called Runescape (I wouldn't be at all surprised if a few Rinkies had already found it...link below if you haven't). It's based on a MUD engine, but has rather flashy 3D graphics. There's a good big free section, but if you spend 3/4 of your life on there (I don't, by the way, but there must be people who do, given the incredible levels they get up to) you can pay a subscription and get about 3 times the content. They're constantly updating it, it's great fun, and if you have a good connection it should download the java applet within a couple of seconds. The "signed" version stores game files on your computer, but again, with a good connection you can use the unsigned version and download the whole lot very quickly each time.
Be warned. It is a massively multiplayer game, often with upwards of 700 people logged in on each server, and can get both very crowded and unbelievably addictive.
Still fun, though.
