You said it was a Ford, didn't you? I once had a Mavrick that I bought new in 1974. It had phillips head screws alongside slotted screws. You couldn't touch it without two screwdrivers. It was the car that cured me of Amercian cars.

If I remember correctly, some Tempos had German engines, but the rest of the car was built in the US. That might explain the metric oil plug. Don't Japanese engines have 13/16 spark plugs?
