Sure. Stop reading books and magazines.

The wedding industry is based on making people believe you have to do all the stuff they say is currently fashionable (ie, the stuff their advertisers are trying to sell), otherwise it somehow doesn't count as romantic and important. This is rubbish. It's *your* wedding. Not your parents', not your friends', and most certainly not that of numerous marketing departments. The only rules which count are the ones relating to legal requirements for marriages where you live, and the ones set by your religion if you're religious.

Take a look at your expectations of what a wedding should involve. Then cross out every single one of them that isn't a strict requirement of the two categories mentioned above. I bet that gives you a LOT more freedom in thinking of ideas.
