Just stick a big wad in your mouth, and while you're waiting to shag a fly ball or knock a homer, your mouth can be going to town on the seeds. > > > > Mi "Not that i don't absolutely stink at baseball" ke > > Tell me, Mike, do baseball players still chew tobacco? I gave up watching baseball many moons ago because the constant spitting made me gag. Who wants to watch a bunch of guys spit? Somehow, spitting the hulls of sunflower seeds doesn't seem so nasty. > Howard
Oh, yeah. Lots of ballplayers still chew tobacco. It's just not something they like to be associated with anymore. I remember a player on the Pittsburgh team was on the cover of a magazine, or a prominent photo within it, and in the picture they had caught him in mid-tobacco-juice-spit. He was none too pleased about that. But this is the same guy who always looks like he's hoarding nuts for the winter in his cheek during a game. But yeah, ballplayers still chew, a lot of them do it, and they don't like people to talk about it.
