Also worth considering is the somewhat convoluted history of the Maiar and Valar (*after* they entered the world; the stuff before has never changed much, IIRC), particularly the Valarindi ("Children of the Valar", i.e. ones somehow born in Arda) stage, traces of which, I think, survived, e.g. Orome being the son of Yavanna (note: this wasn't originally the case, but it's the idea of Valar/Maiar being born in Arda that counts); I sadly haven't managed to get my hands on the parts of Christopher Tolkien's History of Middle-Earth that deal with Gandalf yet, so I can only speculate if this is a possible idea, but the Maia (not Maiar, that's plural :P ) Olorin might have been one of these, which would make him younger than somewhere around 40000 years (IIRC a time approximately equal to 33000 years had passed when the sun first rose), probably quite a bit younger, since the Ainur wouldn't have the necessary leisure until at least Almaren. I do think there's never been a lot of clarity on the subject of the Istari, though, so maybe there's no definite answer, except for the age of Gandalf's body that Darien gave.
