I forgot to mention one of the weird funny things I've noticed. Every woman in America must have marvellous fingernails, because EVERY SINGLE BLOCK OF SHOPS I've seen, no matter how small or out-of-the-way, contains at least one and usually two nail salons.

They have signs saying "NAILS" instead of, for example, "Manicure" or "Beautician" or whatever, and the first time I saw one I thought it was a hardware store until I looked more closely.
