I think I looked good as a blonde when I was four. It would be a different story now. I was blonde until I was about seven, I think, and then it gradually darkened until my early teens, when I suddenly went carroty red and covered in freckles for a few years (like I needed a further source of angst at that time) and ever since then it's been dark brown to dark auburn, when it isn't dyed some other colour.

I also had blonde eyebrows and lashes as a child, and my eyes seemed to be a shade lighter too, so everything matched. That's why I think I would look bizarre if I dyed my hair blonde these days.
