Mark is generally acknowledged to be the most respected driver on the circuit. He may well be the best driver. But so far, he hasn't won a championship. Without checking the record books, I feel comfortable saying that he may well have finished second in the standing more than any other driver. Tony Stewart edged him out this past year. In the past, he has chased Jeff Gordon all season long only to wind up as the runner up again.

There is no justice in the sports world if Mark Martin doesn't win a championship. But since he is already in his 40's, he only has a few seasons left. This could be the one. He drives for the Jack Roush team, which is getting stronger ever year. Mark works with younger drivers on the team contributing to the team's overall success, so I expect to see a big push to put him on top this year. It should be interesting.
