The enormous school swimming pool where we all learned to swim and sail is now revealed as being about three feet deep at the scary end where only the big kids went.
Funny. This is *exactly* the reaction Leen had when, a few years ago, she and I went down to visit her old stomping grounds. We walked around the playground at her school, and she kept saying how *tiny* it was compared to her memory of it. She used to walk to school from her house, a walk that seemed enormous compared to the half a block it takes now.
I wouldn't mind going back to the places I lived when I was a kid; the trouble is, those places are 1000 to 3000 miles away and quite scattered.
Nostalgia rules.
