They don't bother me as long as they don't take the whole page. The worst ones are designed to pop up just as you are about to click on something and you wind up clicking on the ad. Sometimes there is a reply box right where you intended to click on something else and who knows what kind of mess you can get into. It certainly isn't limited to this site. And the timing and positioning of the pop up is no accident.
