My parents were going to call me either Peter or Paul, and decided I looked more like a Paul. (I can't picture myself being called Peter, but I don't know if that's just because I've been Paul for eighteen years... :o) )

I don't know if their inspiration was the saints of the same name, but I do recall reading an account of the life of St. Paul at a very young age, and being massively impressed that Paul was not just a name, but a *Christian* name. :o)
