I do the same, only with slippers, since the department stores only sell the kind of slippers I like in November to January (my preferred style of slipper is high-topped - I guess they could be described that way - so there is no cold gap between ankle and pant cuff, and they also should have tough soles as I tend to, like, walk around the house a lot and stuff). During all the other months the stores only have dorky, flimsy, grandmother-like mules (available in either pink or pale green - blerk), generally made with satin that rub your feet the wrong way something AWFUL.
I would be a terrible hobbit - the idea of walking around a cold house barefoot, let *alone* the outside in damp moss and who knows what, makes me feel most uncomfortable. I suppose there are some people who think they only need to wear *one* pair of socks at a time as well? Geesh.
