An extremely random thought

Something I occasionally contemplate -- never for longer than eight or nine seconds at a time -- is the fact that nearly every single man-made object I see, every day, everywhere, has a schematic drawing of it filed away somewhere.
This plastic fork I'm using to eat lunch? Schematized.
The rivets on my blue jeans bearing the prestigious "Lee" imprimatur? Measured and diagrammed.
These tiny hinges on my glasses? Technically drawn and quartered.
I don't know why I marvel at it, but merely contemplating the existence of these thousands upon tens of thousands of technical diagrams, precisely describing the world of artificial items, is sort of a briefly staggering thought for me. Maybe I need to get more postmodern about the world or something.
