It's a special time of year.

I haven't seen much about the Christmas season on RinkWorks, so I think I'll tell a Christmas story. It's about my son-in-law who delivers packages in a 757. He as been gone from home for several days and will land his plane early tomorrow in Louisville, Kentucky. Then he will drive clear across Kentucky to his home in Tennessee. It's already slippery on top of Jellico Mountain just after I-75 crosses into Tennesse. And the weather will not improve much at that elevation. But pilots are careful, resourceful people, with quick reflexes and a tendency to pay close attention to lots of little details. If anybody gets over that mountain, he will.
He should arrive at home shortly after noon. He will be tired from flying all night and driving half a day, but they will have a quick Christmas before he hits the sack. Like St. Nick, he knows that his small sacrifice will make Christmas a little better for some other people. Besides, he *loves* flying.
This is a good time to think about all of those people whose work keeps them away from their families. I hope your favorite people will be with you tomorrow. Howard
