Lately, I've been surprised to hear internet newbies saying things like "just look it up on Google" and "just Google it." I've got to say, I don't know where everybody found out about this search engine or why it's so possible, but the results of this new poll seem to agree that the days of Yahoo! are dead and the reign of Google has begun. I am still a proud user of Yahoo!. I like the fact that the web site is so much more than just a search engine. You can do almost anything at Yahoo!, yet it remains unintrusive. I always find what I want here, so I still can't figure out what the big deal about Google is.
Not to be pedantic, but Yahoo! isn't a search engine. It's a directory. It doesn't do web crawls and such to gather sites and organise them according to meta keywords and such like search engines do - all sites listed on Yahoo! are submitted to Yahoo! by users, and listed in whatever category the submittor chooses. This makes Yahoo! less efficient in terms of pure searching, and more efficient (at least theortically) in terms of finding sites similar to one that you already have.
