Thanks for the link. That really takes me back.
If you look closely, it's not hard to believe that L'il Abner was a self portrait of Capp when he was young. At an early age, I read his cartoons and sometimes identified with the characters because I lived in an area somewhat like where the Yocums lived. But I never met anybody like them. We spoke better English, but not much better. I still use the words "naturally" and "reckon" in the same manner that L'il Abner did.

I wonder what Capp would think of "Zits" and "Get Fuzzy?"
