I'm notice that several people on this forum have been discussing the merits of claiming to be "wierd," "different," "normal," or"abnormal," or subnormal."

I prefer to think of myself as eccentric. I looked it up once and it means "off center," "whacko," "nutz," or by one definition, "crazy, but with money." I ignore the money part.

Anyway, when I was a young man, people thought I was eccentric because I liked to explorer caves.
When I got a little older, they smirked at a middle-aged guy riding a bicycle. (Ha! Now everybody does it!") Now they grin when I ride up and down the street on a Cushman, then a few minutes later I go by on a Vespa, and next I show up on a Honda moped. I like being eccentric.
Down at the antique mall, they laugh at the wierd stuff in my booth. I don't like ordinary antiques. I like antique bicycles, tobaccco shreaders, grindstones, chewing gum ads, pull toys, bull horns, ice skates (In Tennessee!), doll beds, ice picks, colored glass bottles and such stuff. It sells. When I write a book, I'll call it "How to Be Eccentric for Fun and Profit."
