I've listened to that song for a lot of years and I think I know how it should sound. I kept thinking about the voice teacher who said to his pupil, "I play on the white keys, I play on the black keys, but you keep singing in the cracks!" > > Howard > > Heh, I read this and was reminded of the Classic Morecambe & Wise sketch. Eric Morecambe was playing Grieg's Piano Concerto (badly) as Andre Previn looked on. Andre Previn walks over and gives him a *look*. Eric falters, stops and then looks at him and asks what's wrong. > > Andre Says, "You're playing all the wrong notes!" > > Eric sort of looks round and does that "teeth-sucking" intake of breath. He stands up, grabs Andre by the lapels of his tux and pulls him in close. > > Eric then says, "I'm playing all the RIGHT notes, but not necessarily in the right order!" > > Bea"Grieg's by.. with him and him!"sty
And then there is Victor Borge's routine where he plays a few bars that sound awful, he looks annoyed, turns the sheet music over and plays "The Blue Danube." Beautifully. Howard
