It could be fun, but i dont have the hardware here at work (and probably dont have to ask it my boss to get me something, lol)
Instead of Yahoo games, you should try www.playsite.com, apart from chess, you can play checkers, word games, card games, ...., and your able to chat while playing (meaning, a experienced player could always direct you)
