Um, if you've defeated the vampire, and there is an option to go west, you should be able to.

From personal experience: map it out as you go. Trust me, it'll save you a lot of grief.

Um, you mean a carrot, right? If so, yes. But once you face the cat, you must buy the giant rabbit some time to get there and help you out.

Yep. Now THERE'S a place you absolutely must map out or you'll go nuts.

Again, did you defeat the vampire? If not, you need to dispatch him Buffy-style. (Get anything wooden early on in the game?)
