I saw Contact in the theater twice. The opening scene -- from the studio logo onwards -- was completely silent until the radio sounds suddenly begun. In each movie-going experience, there was inappropriate laughter when the silence went on for more than thirty seconds.
This is partially why I don't go to movie theaters all that often -- they let just *anyone* in.
