I first thought of "The Sound of Music", which is in the "movies they always show at Christmas" category. Apparently the TV programmers are afraid there may still be one or two people in the country who have not yet seen "The Sound of Music", despite it having screened at least once every Christmas, Easter and other major religious holiday for the last four thousand years. Yes, I know that timespan pre-dates "The Sound of Music", television, and most religions. It still feels accurate to me.
A few years ago they screened "The Nightmare Before Christmas" instead, probably by accident. It struck into the Slough of Despond that is Christmas TV scheduling like a shaft of light in the darkness, only the other way around, I suppose.
