What do I do with the ring in GOA?

ok i got it made from the blacksmith guy, and i was showing it to the people or whatever and he came out and ruined it. then i went into his shop thing and did everything i could there, like talking to him about it and conking him on the head. now i don't know what to do. can anyone help? here's my inventory if you need it.

4 Bronze Coins
Guard's Sword
Torch
Crate
Picture

7 Red Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
Key of Opening
Hammer
