Stuck and Frustrated in FQ1

I'm hoping someone can help with some much appreciated specific advice. Here's what I'm carrying:
sack branch shovel bow
silver coin silver key scroll arrow
carrot gold key hammer fishing pole
rope sword nails club

ticket
sunstone

I've made it to the south tower but can't pile things up to get up to the second floor. I've dealt with the sorcerer once to get the scroll but for some reason I can't find my way to any more yuck yuck leaves to get more. Since then, I've mapped the place pretty thoroughly but can't get back there. Any specific suggestions for the next step??? Thanks much.
