Stuck in FQ2

I have no idea what i should be doing next. Any ideas would be appreciated :)

My inventory is:

20 Onions
Crown of Destiny
Bottle Opener
Iron Support
Sunstone

Sack
Float Ring
Cross
Red Potion

Small Silver Coin
Sap Tap
Coconut
Green Potion

Silver Key
Bucket of Sea Water
Pliers
Sword

The only thing i can think that i haven't done it getting past the gate on the other side of the volcano. I put my ladder against it and it fell to pieces, but it won't let me pick those pieces up. Do i have to do something there?
Also, do i need to get the dinghy from the island?
