Im stuck In FQ

i found the fish, but cant get the dwarf to take it, i assume its the dwarf who offers you a drink in the enchanted forrest. i have no clue where to find the hook, i cant get into either of the castles, i assume i need the jeweled dagger that i see everyone has, and i assume i get that in the hidden tower, i can get into the hidden tower, but and once in i can get to the second floor, but i cant find anything at all in the tower, but how to leave again.
am i doing something wrong, do i have to have something else first before i can find anything in the tower, i assume i need the hook to tie on to the rope to get to the third floor to get a dagger, and if im right i have no clue where to get the hook .
help !! im so stuck
