You'll have to have gotten all the way to Llagimlyn (did I spell that right?) to get what you need to use in the shack. Pick up that crate and go do some portal-hopping again.
You need another item that you'll get by getting arrested (and escaping). Go back to Larosis and bump into the wrong guy.
