A few blocks away from here, there's a street called "The Avenue". Funny thing is, there's at least one other "The Avenue" in the Perth Metropolitan Area.

I figure Mr The must have been some famous historical figure that all my teachers unaccountably forgot to mention.

In Bassendean, there's a set of streets named after Gilbert & Sullivan operettas.

And a set of streets named, for no apparent reason, First Avenue through Eighth Avenue.

And in East Perth, Wellington Street turns into Waterloo Crescent, about a block from the intersection of Horatio Street and Nelson Avenue.
