I saw a commercial the other day with Mel Tillis.

What is the second thing you think about when you see Mel? The first is country music, but the second is probably his speech impediment. Mel has stuttered all his life. It has no effect on his singing, but talking brings out stuttering and stammering. Nobody ever handled it better than Mel. He is a naturally funny guy and his speech was always part of his personality. It was almost as if he didn't notice it.

Well, back to that commercial. Mel was making a pitch for some product or service, (I don't remember what.) and sentence after sentence, he didn't stutter once! How did he do that? Either his impediment is cured or he shot take after take until he got it right. Maybe they used computer magic to put parts of several takes together. Does anybody know? Anyway it was good to see him sitting there doing a very professional commercial as if he had been talking that way forever.
