When playing Murkon's Refuge, I started with a 20*20 map, only to find out that the map was actually 30*20. I had to get another sheet of graph paper and continue the map over on that.
I also had colored pencils that I use to mark certain things like yellow for traps, purple for teleports, royal blue for water, etc.
