Yes, the body uses contracting muscles like Gahalia said, however, the food does "drop" into your stomach, and if you did have nerves in your stomach, your might be able to feel the ripples from the HCl splashing against your stomach lining. However, there are no nerves on the inside of the stomach, because they would be destroyed, or if they were protected by the stomach lining, we wouldn't feel anything.(There are nerves there, actually. these are the nerves that tell our stomach muscles to expand and contract, and to tell us we're hungry.) The cells in your stomach are the fastest reproducing cells in your body, obviously because of how the HCl eats through organic matter. So, the body has no need for nerves on the inside lining of the stomach. Anyway, I tend to ramble when I talk about things scientific, so I'll stop now.
