Thanks for the advice. I have been doing both sending resumes and contacting people I know in the field. I had a pretty good lead for one company from a friend/coworker (he works for a different company than I did) and as far as I know I am on their list for any new contracts they land. My neighbor is a teacher and she is trying to get me on with her district. I am also targeting local government jobs and have an interview with a nearby city next week. And of course I am getting my unemployment benefits :)

Unfortunately I have both a mortgage and a car payment, but fortunately my husband is still working. We are trying to refinance our house and cash out some equity to pay off some other debts and lower our total monthly expenses.

As soon as things calm down (my inlaws were in town for 3 weeks, my friend is getting married on Saturday and I am in the wedding, and my son started school this week) I will take your advice and spend more time on the phone.
