I've moved four times in the last four years. Two of those were only six weeks apart. I still have boxes from the first move, four years ago, that I haven't done anything with. Each time, they just got placed in the back of the car and taken off to the new domicile to await the next time.

Hopefully, there won't be a next time anytime soon. Those moves consisted of leaving the parental home for a rented flat. From the rented flat to a rented house. Back from that house to the parental home. Finally, out from the parental home again to the new house, and this one is bought and paid for. (At least, it will be in 25 years when I pay off the Mortgage...)

One other thing. I had a weird feeling when I moved back to the parents house while I was waiting for the house purchase to complete. I had moved out four years previously, thinking I had finally got out and left my parents in peace, sort of thing. The day I moved back, even though it was only a temporary measure, I felt I hadn't really got out, just that I had been on the end of a very long bungee, that had finally snapped me back to the nest. (Talk about mixed metaphors!)

Now, however, I have bought, not rented, and I think I finally shrugged that bungee off.
