My family always laughed at me because I cut up my spaghetti--but now there's just my husband to laugh at me, and he can't because now I'm in charge and I break the noodles beforehand. > > The way you're "supposed" to eat spaghetti is using a fork and a spoon. You get some spaghetti on the fork, then place the tines of the fork into the bowl of the spoon and twirl it like that. This stops you collecting more spaghetti by mistake through having the tines of the fork in the dish. When you have enough on the fork, you just have to tilt it slightly and press it against the spoon to cut the strands. It works nicely once you've been shown. Apparently this is the correct, polite method according to etiquette. This is what I was told as a kid, anyway.
I could probably do it with practice. But I never eat spaghetti any place but at home, and who needs to be polite then?
