Went to the zoo today. Hadn't been in several years. I managed to avoid being put in a cage. Actually, the Knoxville Zoo is in a rebuilding stage, but when it is finished, it should be a really nice one.
Unfortunately, it was very hot and most of the animals were asleep in the shade. They don't use many cages any more. They try to create something that resembles the animal's natural habitat. So many of them were back in the trees or in a den or sleeping in the grass. That proves that they are smarter than we are. I was walking around sweating in the sun, looking at what looked like uninhabited enclosers.
You could hear how various critters sounded. All you had to do was push a button and listen to a recorded squalk, grunt, growl, or howl.
Actually, they had a parrot that talked, but the only word it knew was, "Ark!" It's kind of hard to fit that into a conversation.
The attached park was also undergoing a facelift. I couldn't help but notice what a great place it would be for a scooter meet.
I ran into a teacher that I hadn't seen in several years. She is retired now, so naturally we exchanged I'm-glad-I-got-out-when-I-did stories. You didn't think old burned-out teachers would discuss lesson plans, did you?
Having wandered way, way off subject, I better quit. Howard
