> Well, you can probably guess what I'm going to suggest before I even mention it. ;-) I'm not sure how much you like riding (I know nobody here likes it as much as I do), but is it enough to perhaps take lessons somewhere? This is a great way to get to know people. It's about the only reason I know more people IRL other than Sam (well, that and the model horse friends). Try to stear away from the barns that gear towards kiddies. Heck, you could just go for a trek or 2... you'd at least get to know a tour guide, or perhaps they would group you with another group going for a ride. It costs money, but perhaps you can find a place that will let you help out in exchange for a lesson/trek?
That is a good idea; I might look into it. The pony club next door to me (almost literally -- the paddocks start one house over) seems to mostly have a teenage membership, but you never know.
I think clubs here might be different from the ones in the US, though. They're really just for horse owners, and I don't think it's usual to borrow other people's horses for riding lessons or whatever, as you describe people doing at yours. However, I could be wrong, so I'll go and ask. Even if there's no luck there, I should make time to go on some more treks anyway. I love doing that (even if it doesn't involve the opportunity to kick a bull in the ribs as you ride past ;-). Thanks for the idea.
