I don't see how the drive could be disconnected. The machine had Windows 95 installed and running on it before I reformatted it, and the CD ROM drive was working then. (I tested it.) The machine hasn't been moved from where it was sitting since I brought it here.

Maybe I just have the wrong driver for it. Maybe I should try some different ones and see what happens.
