That can be both a vice and a virtue ;-)
It is fine to stand up for your views, but you'll have noticed that the folks around here seem to demand a more substantive explanation of them than perhaps you were prepared for.
It is also fine, however, to re-examine your views in the context of the responses you've received. Consider it "gathering intelligence" and "fine-tuning your objectives" rather than "compromising your views".

PS I've found this subject both interesting and irritating. I don't discount anyone's opinion, but want to hear from more people with first hand experience with military life. So far (to my knowledge) we've only heard from one veteran, and one former military dependent (I think) besides me.
